In the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, I read an article that made a correlation between neck pain and the stiffness of one’s spine while walking.
The authors concluded, “Reduced rotation of the trunk during gait may have long term consequences on spinal health.”
Sometimes my patients ask why I address the spine when treating neck pain, and here’s another reason why. Sometimes there are remote, but direct relationships between one part of the body and another.
